Can I still use Office files on a Chromebook?
Of course! The G Suite productivity tools are compatible with .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx files, and you can choose to edit them as they are or convert them to Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides files. You also have the option to export work you have done in G Suite to Office or .pdf format if you wish.
What are the requirements for having a Chromebook implementation in my school?
As technical requirements go, you’ll need a modern wireless network solution as well as a minimum of 20Mbps broadband bandwidth. 123ICT will visit your school and carry out a comprehensive check to determine if your school is Cloud-ready. Don’t worry, if you’re not quite there we can help with that thanks to our Wireless Solution.

You and your staff will also need to be willing to see a positive change in the way the computing curriculum is delivered in your school! Moving to Chromebooks is an exciting step, but can be scary for some.  With 123ICT delivered training, your staff will be confident in delivering engaging IT lessons.

What is the benefit of using G Suite over an on-site server?
With G Suite you’re able to store your files on Google Drive, removing the restriction of only being able to access your work when at school. Users can access their files anytime & anywhere. What’s more, all of the applications are hosted in the cloud which means that you can save on hardware costs (when comparing a Chromebook to a traditional Windows laptop) and you won’t have to install programs via a powerful server.
What happens after the initial set up and training?
Immediately after initial set up and training, we’ll be on hand to provide hands-on support in order for teachers to be comfortable with delivering IT lessons with Chromebooks. We will also train a nominated member of staff as a Google Champion. The idea is that this person will be your on-site guru that will be able to answer the majority of questions your users may have, as well as solve basic problems.

We’ll also arrange a follow-up visit around a month after your launch date to check how things are going.

However this doesn’t mean we’re not on-hand if you need us! With your purchase you’ll also receive complimentary helpdesk support, where a certified G Suite Administrator can talk you through features, make technical changes to your Chromebooks, and video chat with you to help you feel more comfortable with certain features.

I’ve heard I can’t print using a Chromebook, is this true?
This is entirely false. The vast majority of newer printers have a feature called Google Cloud Print which allows your users to print from a Chromebook. Older printers can still be used as well with a different method, and we can advise on this during our initial visit to your school.
Can we see Chromebooks in action before we make a purchasing decision?
Yes! We can come to you with demo units so that you can get a feel for what Chromebooks are like. 123ICT are also proud to have a number of schools with successful Chromebook installations, and they are happy for you to visit them to observe a lesson in action, so that you can see for yourselves how Google for Education revolutionises IT in the classroom.
